Jay joined HIRE STRANGER in December 2025, stepping in for founding bassist AJ Marto, a well-known musician in the Seattle music scene. Jay also plays in a Seattle local psychedelic-rock group Kelp Wanted.

As HIRE STRANGER’s bassist, Jay brings a strong ear for groove and a natural ability to lock in with drummer Wyatt Longley. Their rhythm-section chemistry gives the band a steady, dynamic foundation while leaving room for the songs to breathe.

Originally from Southern California, Jay brings a bright, lighthearted energy to the band. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Blink-182, Third Eye Blind, Silversun Pickups, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, his melodic playing and upbeat personality provide the perfect contrast to Spencer’s more melancholic lyrics.

In his free time, Jay can usually be found mountain biking, hiking, or somewhere deep in the woods. Whether he is actually Sasquatch remains unconfirmed. Come to a show, say hi, and ask him about WSDOT.
